We are the regulator of charities in England and Wales and maintain the charity register.
We are an independent, non-ministerial government department accountable to Parliament.
As registrar, we are responsible for maintaining an accurate and up-to-date register of charities. This includes deciding whether organisations are charitable and should be registered. We also remove charities that are not considered to be charitable, no longer exist or do not operate.
We work across 4 sites in Liverpool, London, Newport and Taunton. Our Newport office operates bilingually in Welsh and English. We employ around 450 people.
As Publisher
Find that Charity is a tool for finding non profit organisations by name, from Kane Data Ltd. It brings together data from a number of sources to include a record for a large number of non profit organisations in the UK, including every registered charity.
Find that Charity was initially put together by David Kane. Huge thanks to other contributors, particularly Bob Harper who implemented the Northern Ireland charity data and Katherine and others at 360Giving for their help and feedback.
The data is used directly from regulatory sources. Any corrections needed to the data should be directed to the regulators themselves, using these links.
