Taxpayer-funded charity bill hits £2.3 BILLION!

The data is taken across 2020-25

Today I can reveal the latest figures from my directories of taxpayer-funded charities. The total taxpayer spending I’ve calculated across 65 charities (for the last five tax years) is £2.3 BILLION! (Bear in mind that there are 171,516 charities on The Charity Commission for England and Wales at the time of writing – so the bill is likely to substantially increase).

My update includes two new entries (charities in the asylum and migration space), which I’ve gone into detail about below.
